Big things have been happening around the stables.

First, is Silver Brother found a forever home with his new owner Carole, and he is loving every minute of his new life. Carole and Silver have been riding almost every day, as Carole says "he is her extra treat for getting her work done". Congratulation on the great connection you have developed together.

A big welcome to our new boarders, Teresa and Chief, Ashley and Honey, and Stephanie and Ali.

All the training horses that have come in and gone home with their very happy owners, we thank you very much for choosing St Andrews Stables for your training needs.

Day camp has started with a full pack of very happy little campers riding around and playing with their horses.

We held another CHA clinic in June with instructors from all over Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the United Emerants. It was a fantastic clinic for all with a special note to our appetence program graduates, Selene who achieved her level 2 certification, Carole her level 1 and Nadine also her level 1. Great job, ladies. And Megan for achieving her Master Instructor level and a recommendation for Clinic Instructor.

And as a final note, Ousby the Border Terrier, Megan's new puppy from Scotland. I am sure you will see him around the barn when you are out, if you haven't met him already. He's the very cute puppy running behind Megan.

Hope to see you out to the barn soon to enjoy the summer

Our Amazing Race

Good Times were had by all!

About 12 of us showed up for fun and games on a pleasant Sunday after noon. While some people had horse issues that forced them to question their sanity ( and spit mud out of their mouth), others had a great afternoon of connecting to their horse. Great treasures were found in the hay field during our treasure hunt/garbage pick up race, Kendall found the "perfume bottle", but lots of people had a fun with a good romp through the field at a gallop. Our walk /trot/gallop/lead race was won by Bruce, who came over from a neighbouring barn. His horse is the spitting image of our horse Sparkles, and seemed to be just as sweet. Kendall and Bruce also won the pairs ribbon and stick races, as their horses were pretty attached to each other. Nadine on Mouse and Krista on Phin won the" fill the bucket water race". Nicole had the best rodeo show on Max! But we all learned what areas we need to work on with our horses, like stopping, or backing up ( Black Betty actually won the back up race - thanks Chris Irwin)!

So keep your eyes open for the next fun day we have and come on out.

Oh , I can not forget to thank Larry for barbequing the great hot dogs - yummy.

What a great weekend we had soaking up new ideas and being re-energized by such a knowledgeable guy. It is always nice to be shown new ways to learn what our horses are trying to tell us, and then being able to communicate back to them clearly what we want them to do. Very insightful. We learned how to work with the bend of our horses and not to fight them into bending the correct way. Blocking the power that is being directed the wrong way, is better than trying to pull the horse into a false frame or bend. Chris believes that there is hope for our crazy horse -Chunky. He even offered to take and work with Chunky as he can see that he is a willing and intelligent horse just trying to work through his previous harsh handling and training as a ranch horse. Chris also showed us how to help him work through that distrust, so that will be our summer project.

We hope Chris will come back again

The winter seemed to fly by and drag at the same time. But spring is upon us and we are flooded with fresh ideas and lots of energy. We will be posting a list of activities in the viewing room and hope you will sign up to enjoy a few laughs and some horse time with us. We vow to get out and ride more, have more away trips and fun activities at the barn.

We have several people interested in our camping trips so be sure to get your horses space in the trailer booked. Monthly trips are planned, check out our calendar for the dates and book your time off accordingly. We are selling our little trailer to Kelly, owner of Smoky, so there may be more of us per trip this year.

The Amazing Non-Race will be held at the barn and surrounding areas. A list of activities will be given to each team of riders and the group who accomplishes them all first will win a REALLY BIG prize. Some of the tasks will be to load your horse in the trailer the quickest, get your horses to stand on the platform, find a pen in the haystack, and a bunch more. So it will test your skills but not be too demanding!

The Fun show will be various riding skills in the arena. I will let Megan think those up.

Also the Stonewall Fair and Horse Show is coming up. A bunch of us are going to that, it is great for a first time show, very casual, yet it has a judge. More of a training style show really.

Friday evenings we are starting up our Polo again and every other Friday at 7 we are practicing for a drill team too.

Is there anything you guys want to do? or have any ideas? we love new ideas.

Ok see you in the barn - soon I hope.

Monday night classes cancelled

Again the weather is to cold to ride tonight, so private classes are cancelled tonight.
