A power washer is a great tool for the barn. It will not only clean the stalls and barn, but also works great to clean blankets and pads. Place your riding pad against a solid object and power spray from top to bottom, leave to dry in the sun. This works great for all type and makes of pads, with the exception of full wool fleece. Full wool fleece should be brushed and fluffed.
Use a zip tie on a broke rein on the trail – make sure you keep a few in your saddle packs.
Now a lot of technology goes into making saddle pads –equivalent to a running shoe. If you have an older saddle, wise purchase is a new pad. Usually the higher the price the better technology and science behind the pad.
Saddle fit not only affects the comfort of your horse but also their performance. Some horses will never tell you that your saddle doesn’t fit until you see the white hairs come. Others are great at expressing their discomfort/dislike, biting, kicking and tail swishing, moving away when saddling are good indicators that you might have a saddle fitting problem.
Shedding blade – a must in any tack box, it’s take the mud off.
Squeaky saddle - clean then apply baby powder in all the joint connections.
Zincofax for babies – helps prevent sunburn on white noses and faces.
When determining the correct length of a bridle path for your horse. Lay the ear flat along the mane/horse neck. The length of your bridle path for that horse is to the tip of the ear.
